Jim & Linda Winegar

Jim & Linda Winegar have been working with clay for over 50 years. They are both graduates of Indiana University of Pennsylvania, with degrees in Art Education. Their studies at IUP, with ceramics instructor Frank Ross, began their lifelong adventures with clay. The Winegars produce a variety of functional and decorative clay pieces. These range from utilitarian items such as vases, bowls, platters, casseroles and dinnerware to more decorative objects such as large floor pots, and one-of-a-kind carved and embossed vessels with precious and semi-precious stones as adornments. Much of their recent work has included the addition of hand-formed oak leaves and acorns, reflective of the beautiful rural setting of their home and studio. Most of these stoneware clay pieces are created on the potter's wheel and and fired in electric kilns at their new studio in La Porte. The utilitarian ware can be used in the oven and microwave and is dishwasher safe.
