Ellen Cloudy is a Wisconsin native and self-taught artist whose work was shaped over 40 years in Alaska, where she developed her artistic voice while raising her family. Since returning to Wisconsin in 2022, she continues to build on a body of work grounded in careful observation, patience, and a deep appreciation for the world around her.

Working in oil, watercolor, pastel, and print, Cloudy selects each medium to complement her subject. She especially enjoys creating pet portraits, still life and landscapes.

Drawing inspiration from both the natural and the manmade world, she finds beauty in subjects ranging from expansive mountain landscapes to quiet, overlooked corners of everyday life. Her work reflects a belief that beauty is shaped by attention and perspective-there is always something worth seeing, and worth capturing.
